Editions

Prints are available in a number of different types, as stated on the image details. This is because the images presented on this website have been produced using a varety of cameras and media, and consequently the prints I have for sale are produced in the most visually attractiveform.

I take considerable care to ensure optimum visual quality and archival stability.

Silver Gelatin Prints - I have a traditional darkroom, and make prints on Ilford Gallerie and other papers. These are processed archivally and usually toned for stability and optimum appearance. This is not an automated process, and you are buying a work of art, unique in appearance.

Lith Prints - Certain images respond well to Lith printing, a specialised form of hand print which has a unique appearance. These are processed archivally with a toned appearance. These are one ff prints, and you are buying a work of art, unique in appearance.

Giclée Prints - I usually offer two types of paper for my prints, although I often experiment with other finishes too. I print with an Epson 3800 loaded with Ultrachrome K3 pigmented inks offering a life span comparable to Silver Gelatin.

ILFORD GALERIE GOLD FIBRE SILK has a baryta (barium sulphate) coated layer underneath the ink receiving layer equivalent to the structure of a traditional fibre photographic paper base. The media offers enhanced definition, extended tonal range, and excellent archival properties, all of which are important to the demanding professional digital photographer and printer. Coated fibre papers have a unique look and feel, which has become a standard among art photographers worldwide over the course of more than a century.

COTTON RAG offers a completely different appearance, sometimes looking sometimes more like a hand rendered image. I use this selectively and will always advise if I feel the paper choice is appropriate to the image.

Alternative Printmaking processes - I am a great fan of the traditional photographic processes, and work with CYANOTYPES, GUM BICHROMATE and other processes. If you are interested in commissioning me to make a print, please ask for more details. I have a number of images displayed on this site for reference, and the technique is covered elsewhere

THE SMALL PRINT..... I am an artist, and my print sales are important to me. Please enter into a dialogue with me and I will ensure you are completely happy with your choice of image and paper type. I can also arrange framing, although it's easier to ship a print than a glazed frame. I offer a personal guarantee of refund or replace with another image, if you are unhappy with your purchase.

The images within the 'One Off' Gallery are all produced by traditional procersses that produce unique images. Please bear this in mind when selecting, as the image may be somewhat different to the website imge!

Depending on origination of each image, you can purchase a limited edition print if it is still available.

Editions are always to a maximum of 25 prints, unless otherwise stated.
